October 2022: Ras el hanout is a spice blend from the Maghreb region of Africa. It translates from Arabic to “head of the shop”, referring to spice shop owners traditionally creating their own blend based on their best offerings. All blends vary for this reason, but most include the likes of ginger, coriander, cardamom, a variety of pepper, cumin, clove, and nutmeg. These warm flavors come together for a very autumnal cookie flavor, rounded out by some date molasses. And the best part about this cookie might just be that it’s vegan. Can you tell?
