Meet Carmen

In 5th grade, I took a class called Life Skills, where I learned to make oatmeal raisin cookies (with Crisco...never again). The rest is history, as they say. Ever since, I've been spending time in the kitchen, experimenting with interesting flavor combinations and testing out new cookie recipes.

To make friends at my rock climbing gym, I would bring test batches to the front desk, and they became pretty well known in the community. It was then that I was inspired to share my cookies with more than just friends and family.

Who doesn't enjoy a good cookie? The goal of Carmen's Cookies is to help you connect with others through baked goods made with the best, most simple ingredients, that taste nostalgic yet surprising.

Behind the Cookies

Owning a food business comes with greater responsibilities outside of simply providing customers with an appetizing product. Read on to learn how Carmen’s Cookies is staying accountable on its social impact.

Ordering a box of cookies gives you an excuse, if ever you need one, to bring people together to form connections. There’s something sparkly that happens, especially with the onset of tech and social media, when a group of people, strangers or otherwise, come together around food, and cookies are no exception to that.

I want you to feel confident that the money you’re spending on Carmen’s Cookies is going to the right places. I responsibly source the ingredients that go into your cookies to ensure positive social impact and environmental sustainability (find out where the chocolate in your cookies are coming from here).

With Carmen’s Cookies’ nostalgic varieties, you can relive moments of your childhood with flavors that bring you back to your family’s kitchen. But the experience is inclusive to all, with seasonal flavors that incorporate the vast cultures represented in Brooklyn, NY, and beyond.

Carmen’s Cookies is committed to giving back to the community it calls home. In 2021, a portion of all sales were donated to East New York Farms!, a project from United Community Centers. In 2022, I donated to South Brooklyn Mutual Aid, supporting the neighborhoods of Sunset Park, Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, and surrounding areas. Working with wholesale food providers and community partners, SBKMA reaches out to families to distribute food with funds they receive from the community.

Food justice can’t happen without racial justice, and Carmen’s Cookies aims to uplift organizations aiding underserved communities and help create change in the food system.
